Female Hair Loss Treatment For Women After The Age Of 40

By Elena

The health of your hair reflects the general state of your body, being also one of the most attractive elements of a woman’s beauty.

Unfortunately, many women after their 40s are experiencing hair loss – a major problem that is often difficult to treat.

Most of the time women hair loss after the age of 40 is caused by hormonal imbalance. A typical situation is menopause hair loss, when the hair starts to fall because of the hormonal changes. Another type of hair loss caused by hormonal imbalance is called Androgenetic alopecia. Its gravity differs – some women can have only small round patches where the hair will grow again after a while, while for others the problem can degenerate to a severe condition. In these cases of chronic extensive hair loss, the hair fall affects not only the scalp, but also other areas of the body. The main symptom of androgenetic alopecia, tough, is hair loss on the crown and on the sides of the head.

Another type of female hair loss is Alopecia areata. It is caused by the fact that white blood cells are attacking hair follicles. In simple forms, this condition can be treated with good results. The severe cases are much more difficult for female hair loss treatment.

Both women and men have at the same time female and male hormones in different amounts. Androgenetic alopecia is caused by male hormones. Of course, the presence of this hormone in a woman’s body doesn’t automatically cause hair loss. It happens only to those women who are sensitive to this particular hormone. This sensitivity can appear as a result of another medical condition, which causes sensitivity to testosterone.

After 40, hair loss can happen as a result of diabetes. In this case, the main cause is the presence of high androgen levels – a very common situation among women. Why does this happen? The protein levels can be compromised if the thyroid gland has a dysfunction. And what does our hair consist of? Primarily it’s made up of proteins. Consequently the fact that a protein deficiency can lead to hair loss should be no surprise for us. Often protein, iron, zinc, magnesium and other deficits will result in hair fall.

The older a person is, the higher is the negative influence of stress on their health. For women over 40 stresses are extremely dangerous, especially because at this age many women are experiencing a mid-life crisis.

The first thing you should do when you start your treatment is taking some blood tests. Their main purpose is to check the androgen levels, which will help in finding the exact cause of your condition.

Don’t forget that if you take special medication for cancer, you will eventually develop a chemotherapy hair loss. You can also lose your hair because of high blood pressure, blood thinners, excess of Vitamins A, birth control pills or antidepressants. If you’re taking one or some of these medications, consult with your doctor for a correct female hair loss treatment.

No matter what kind of treatment for hair loss you’re following, don’t forget about natural remedies! Their action is slower, but they don’t have any side-effects and the results are much more long-lasting than in cases of drugs.

However, there are many other solutions for hair loss available. Even if they don’t help your hair to grow normally again, they solve the problem cosmetically. In a severe form of hair loss, you might want to consider hair transplant, hair replacement surgery or hair additions.

It’s harder to cope with a problem when you’re not 20 anymore. But remember – our age is a state of our mind, a reflection of our soul. If you will start feeling young again, if you will tell yourself every day that you’re strong, full of energy and life, everything will be possible and female hair loss treatment will be much easier for you.
