Herbal Remedies in Female Hair Loss Treatment

By Elena

As I promised in my previous post, we’ll talk a little more about herbal remedies and their use in female hair loss treatment.

When a woman starts experiencing hair loss, it’s not just an uncomfortable and painful problem. And, as I mentioned before, it’s definitely not a separate condition. Female hair loss is first of all a symptom pointing that something is wrong with your body. We already know that the causes of hair loss can be extremely different: stress, unbalanced alimentation, lack of vitamins, a wrong shampoo, hormonal disorders or polluted environment.

The first thing you have to do is analyze your condition and identify its cause. Only having an objective diagnosis you can choose the correct female hair loss treatment.

Before starting any medical treatment, you should consider first natural remedies, especially if you have an easy form of hair loss. Even in a severe form, when there is no way of avoiding a medical treatment, you should still combine it with herbal remedies.

Which are the advantages of a natural treatment? Herbs address directly the cause of the illness, naturally supporting the body’s healing mechanisms. Most drugs do the opposite – they take care of the symptoms without eliminating the cause. It would be naive to say that herbal remedies are a miracle and they cure all forms of hair loss. However, if used correctly, herbs can offer real hope to many women.

Let’s analyze the most popular herbal remedies and decide when and if you should try them for solving your hair loss problem.

Ginkyo biloba is an herb famous for improving blood circulation both to the brain and skin. Specialists consider that if we increase the blood flow to the scalp area, it will deliver more nourishing substances to the hair follicles, enhancing the hair growth.

He Shou Wu or Polygonum multiflorum, also named Fo-Ti is a Chinese herb used for centuries to cure hair loss. You can find it as a component of many commercial products for combating hair fall, as well as in teas and capsules. The ancient Chinese healers used this herb for sustaining the kidneys and the liver. It is considered that liver blood nourishes the head and thus the hair, also controlling the aging process.

Green tea or Camellia sinesis is very effective in combating male hair loss. Its exact effects are not proven in female hair loss treatment, but we should know that this herb improves blood circulation and contributes to the relaxation of blood vessels.

The same can be said about stinging nettles or Urtica diocia. It is extremely useful for male hair loss when taken in pills or capsules. Women can use it as well externally – pour boiling water on some leaves and little branches of nettle, let it rest until the composition has a pleasant temperature an use it for rinsing your hair.

Aloe Vera is a wonderful natural remedy for female hair loss treatment. When used externally, it will cleanse the pores of the scalp, healing it and balancing the pH level of the skin.

And, of course, don’t forget about Henna! Apply once in two weeks a Henna mask on your hair, leave it for an hour under a warming cap and enjoy its effects!
