Home Remedies For Female Hair Loss – Treat Your Dysfunction Naturally!

By Elena

As a nutritionist, I’ve always preferred natural, holistic remedies. I can honestly say that this approach has saved my health, my well-being and my emotional balance. A few years ago, when I started to experience female hair loss, my first reaction was panic. However, after calming down, I realized that my hair loss is not a disease – it’s a symptom. So (fortunately), I didn’t hurry to buy the first advertised hair loss product. I thought how to get rid of my problem by improving my lifestyle – in the end, a strong and beautiful hair is an inevitable consequence of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Unfortunately, many women who are confronted with hair loss don’t know that there are so many wonderful remedies that we can use at home, without spending a fortune on expensive medication (which can also have severe side-effects on our health). Female hair loss treatment doesn’t have to be comprised only of chemical substances in the form of pills and unguents.

I’m a nutritionist and I believe in the healing powers of a proper diet. The hair is an indissoluble part of our body, so everything we eat is reflecting in the state of our hair follicles and strands as well. Make sure that you don’t have a vitamin or mineral deficiency – it can also lead to hair loss, though it is not as devastating as a severe emotional trauma or chronic stress. Vitamins A, E and B are very important for hair growth, especially the vitamin B6. From the needed minerals I can name calcium, zinc, iron, iodine and silica. Don’t forget to eat every day fresh raw products – besides vitamins and other nutrients, they contain lots of powerful biological energy, essential for our health.

Our emotional balance is another important aspect to consider. Sadly, stress is the major cause of most cases of temporary female hair loss. If your dysfunction is stress-related, no amount of hair loss medication or vitamins will be able to regrow your hair. Learning how to deal with your stress (meditation, yoga, group activities) is one of the most powerful remedies for all illnesses, not just female hair loss.

Our hair care procedures can influence the health of our hair as well: constant blow drying (especially with hot air), straight ironing, hair color and other styling procedures involving chemical substances can damage the hair follicles, not to mention low quality shampoos and conditioners. Invest in good products and don’t exaggerate with chemical procedures – give your hair time to breathe!

A proper blood flow to the scalp is essential. There are two ways of achieving a good circulation: physical activity, which improves the blood flow in the entire body (especially reversed yoga postures) and scalp massage. A good oxygenation is also mandatory – though it does not influence your hair directly, the lack of oxygen (hypoxia) can cause hair loss indirectly, by weakening your entire body.

Besides respecting these main elements of a healthy lifestyle, there are many natural remedies you can use at home to fortify your hair faster or to prevent hair loss.

Lemon juice is considered an effective cleansing remedy for the scalp. You can rub it on your head, leave it for 15-20 minutes and then wash off. The hair will be clean and dandruff-free afterwards.

Apple cider vinegar is another way of cleaning the scalp and unclogging the follicles, by removing the dead cells that stop the new hairs from growing.

Amla (Indian goose berry) oil is said to be a wonderful hair loss remedy and a hair tonic, if prepared correctly. Coconut oil has good effects as well, especially when mixed with lime juice. You can also boil mustard oil together with henna leaves – it stimulates hair growth. Don’t forget about castor oil, almond oil, rosemary oil, tea tree oil (for killing harmful bacteria) or applications of hot olive oil.

Coconut milk can be applied on the scalp as well – it is considered an effective hair loss remedy.

Aloe Vera, nettles, and other herbs are said to be beneficial in female hair loss treatment as well.

As you can see, there are numerous different home remedies for hair loss you can use without the risk of side-effects and complications (as in case of pills and other hair loss medication). Just make sure, before applying a certain oil or herb extract, that it has the power to remove the exact cause of your problem. Read carefully which are the curative properties of the natural remedy you want to use. With the risk of repeating myself, I will say again that the causes of female hair loss are different – so a certain herbal remedy may not function in some cases.
